Iroko is a timber species from Western Africa.
Freshly installed it looks almost yellow. However, after a couple of months, it ages into a very nice rich, honey colour. This is the closest colour to a traditional NZ native timber species like Rimu.
The floor has been down since 2010 and still looks as good as when it was done. Best floor we could have put down in a high use area. Andrew Denton
Andrew bought Karelia Jatoba Single Plank in 2010. Jatoba is a Brazilian Cherry timber species and one of the hardest timbers in flooring.
Unfortunately Karelia has phased out of Jatoba in the meantime as raw material was hard to get from sustainable sources.
Karelia's policy is: "If we can't buy raw material from sustainable sources, we won't offer it"
